We have the benefit of knowing how "Sunday" unfolded. . We know the end of the story. Every time I read the Easter account I am filled with hope from the beginning to the end. I am able to have hope from Friday until Sunday because I know the end of the story. I know the great plan because I have read it many times and I have seen the power of this hope in my own life.
Life is filled with a lot of unknowns. And if you are like me, you have had many, many days that are like that Friday for the disciples. You feel as if there is no hope. You feel lost. You don't know the end of the story and you are filled with the fear of the unknown.
One of my favorite scripture verses is Jeremiah 28:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future". God already knows how Sunday is going to play out. It gives me great hope to know that in the midst of my struggle, God has a plan. The plan may not be how I would write it, and it may not have the fairy tale ending I was hoping for, but I believe with all my heart that God's plan is greater and better than mine.
Where do you place your hope? Is it in your circumstances? People? Security? If we place our hope in anything or anyone but Jesus, we will be disappointed. But when we place our hope in Jesus Christ, Sunday is always coming. Rejoice! He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
